1. Shiva Prasad Paudel- Chairman | Mr. Paudel is the Chair of Board of Directors of the Centre. He went to Nepal Law Campus, Tribhuvan University (TU), and graduated in the year 1997. He topped the TU and could pursue higher studies in the University of Delhi, India. Due to his good merits, he was employed for a year in a project in the personal law politics in India. Upon return, he joined a public interest law firm- Pro Public in Kathmandu and led the organization’s public interest litigation work. He became team leader of a project and collaborated with judges of the different tiers of courts and coordinated judicial trainings on Judges. Later, he joined Save the Children International and oversaw the legal aid program for the entire country. He lobbied with the United Nations, International Development Agencies and the government of Nepal and started a juvenile justice program under the joint leadership of the Ministry of Children and the Supreme Court. As a Team Leader of Juvenile Justice Program, he drafted juvenile justice procedure and got it approved by the government of Nepal to start judicial education program for district judges. He also coordinated with government, civil society and save the children in preparing the first UPR report and also technically supported the government to timely submit the periodic reports to the UN treaty body. He also won a prestigious award and went to Columbia University in the city of New York as a public interest law fellow and audited several courses at the school of law and school of international and public affairs for two semesters in the year of 2011-12. He, later, joined Kathmandu University as an assistant professor and taught courses on administrative law, philosophy, and environment law. Currently, he works as a policy analyst to the association of international NGOs and serve as a part time teacher to Kathmandu University in the area of environment law and policy. He has published numerous articles and op-ed in leading national newspaper. As a spiritual seeker, he spent his two years intermittently as a wanderer in spiritual practice. He still sees value in seeking life beyond death and death as a transformation of energy. |
2. Umesh Gautam- Treasurer | Mr. Gautam is a graduate of Business Studies from Tribhuvan University, Mr. Gautam is currently working as a Researcher at Nepal Consulting Lawyers Inc. Before, he worked as Programme Officer of Economic Law & Sub-national Governance Office at Kathmandu University School of Law. He has interest in the field of constitution building, legal documentation and other issues related to relations with the government offices. As a paralegal support, Mr. Gautam had involvement in bringing out books including Nepalko Namuna Sambidhan, 2066 (the Model Constituon for Nepal, 2009),Nepal: Design Options for the New Constitution and Nepalka Khas Jati (The Khas People of Nepal). He also worked in the project Consortium of Constitutional Experts (CONCOE) and Nepal Constitution Foundation (NCF) as an editor of Newsletters. |
3. Ayushma Regmi | Ms. Regmi is one of the key members of the Board of Directors of the Centre. She is a Kathmandu-based writer and educator with interest in experiential education, organizational leadership and self-reflexive practices in learning. She has worked in alternative institutions in India & Nepal as a teacher, teacher educator and curriculum developer. Previously, she has worked as a journalist for The Kathmandu Post and currently she is contributing to the Artforum International as an art critic. Ayushma has a BA in English from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi University and an MA in Education from Ambedkar University, Delhi. |
4. Santosh KC | Mr KC is a key member of the Board of Directors of the Centre. He is a lawyer who holds master’s degree in law from Tribhuvan University, Nepal, with specialization in criminal and commercial law. He is currently teaching at the Kathmandu University School of Law, one of the top universities in Nepal. He has good experience of teaching at different colleges and of legal practice at the law courts. |
5. Ishwori Koirala | Ms. Koirala also serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the Centre. She has completed intermediate level study on management. She is young and energetic person who is interested to work at the grassroots level and empower community people to improve their economic and social condition. Currently, she is working with a financial cooperative bearing responsibility to reach out to the community people and provide them with skills to save and utilize money properly. |
